Is it pure, as the white lace on a young bride's gown?
Or as white and clear as a loving mother’s
tears glistening in bright summer cheers?
Is it simple, as the blue from something borrowed?
Or blue as the eyes of a father that tucked her into
bed to scare away the monsters in her head?
Is it bright, as the gold wedding bands found at an antique shop?
Or white gold as the gemmed butterfly Grandma
wore in her hair that was her mother’s before?
Is its softness, as pink roses growing in her favorite park?
Or the flowing wine from the sparkling
fountains drank during their honeymoon mountains?
All of these colors and so many more...
Like that very first box of 64 Crayola Crayons taken to school.
The box was slowly popped open…
Staring at all of the beautiful shades and hues.
Each color held with gentleness...
Every color wanting to be present and used.
Infinite possibilities…
Creativity spreading across pages and pages.
When you find your special color of marriage,
May it outlast all of the ages.
